Nnamdi Kanu: Striking out of charges was an act of God – IPOB

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has described the striking out of some charges against its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu as an act of God. In a statement issued yesterday by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, the group explained that the struggle for the restoration of Biafra was ordained by God. The pro-Biafra group described the outcome Kanu’s trial which saw an Abuja Federal High Court striking out six of the 11 charges levelled against him as the handwork of God. IPOB called on its members to remain resolute in the quest for the restoration of the Republic of Biafra. Nollywood actor, Emeka Ike’s 17-year-old marriage has been dissolved by a Lagos Customary Court sitting in Lagos Island, on Thursday. His embattled wife, Suzanne Emma, in a suit filed against the actor, complained to the court of incessant beating, molestation and torture by her husband. A three-man panel, presided over by Chief Awos Awosola, dissolved the union, while delivering judgment in a marriage dissolution suit, marked LCC/15/2015, filed by the actor’s wife. The actor, However, pleaded with the court not to dissolve the marriage, denying ever torturing his wife. He claimed that his wife had moved out of their matrimonial home five times without any reason. British actor, John Hurt who garnered Oscar nominations for his roles in "Midnight Express" and "The Elephant Man," has died at the age of 77, his agent confirmed this morning. He died yesterday Jan. 27th in London just 5 days after his 77th birthday. Hurt worked more than six decades in television, movies and voice work in England and the United States. He recently played a priest who counsels Jacqueline Kennedy in last year's biopic "Jackie". Mourning him, actor Kiefer Sutherland tweeted: "My deepest sympathies to John Hurt's family, friends and fans. He was a dear friend."
